Why does the DGT2010 option 20 spontaneously add a next period?

Important: This article is only applicable for DGT2010 clocks and for serial numbers starting with: D3410, D4510. All other DGT2010 clock already have been modified.
It is known that sometimes, when using option 20, the clock spontaneously adds the time for the next period to the time on the display. There have been a few reports of this issue, however we are unable to reproduce and until now we have not found a consistent way of reproducing the issue. We estimate  that the problem occasionally could happen with clocks with serial numbers as in above sequences. There is no workaround yet for these very old clocks.
