I cannot select the COM port number that is shown by the boardtester in Queen5
This article has become obsolete with the latest version of Queen5 (version 5.2). With this version it is possible to select the COM-port, also when it is above COM-port 8. See our download section for the latest release.
In Queen you can only select COM-port 1 to 8
If your e-board shows in the boardtester that it has got COM 9 or higher you can do the following.
Close BoardTester first if it is still open.
Once a COM-port has been assigned to a device, the computer will consider this port as in use, even if the device has been disconnected.
This means that the lower numbers are quickly exhausted.
To free a number from 3 to 8 do the following (It is recommended to leave the numbers 1 and 2 untouched):
Plug in your board.
Open the Device Manager this way: Start - Control Panel – System – Device Manager.
Click on the + sign in front of "Ports(COM & LPT"
Doubleclick on the port you want to change the number (There may be only one)

Bring the tab "Port Settings" on front
Click the "Advanced" button.
You will see this dialog:
Choose a number lower than 9 and click on the "OK" Button
Ignore the warning by choosing "Yes" I want to go on
You will find that the comport number has changed.
Close all windows you just opened.
