DGT wireless e-boards for tournament systems in final stages of development.
During the Euro Chess Tournament in Enschede, DGT is conducting tests on the wireless system for tournament situations.
This development makes broadcasting a chess tournament on the internet a lot easier. Simply place any number of DGT e-boards on the table, start the wireless transmitters and receiver and run your broadcasting software for internet upload.
The DGT Wireless box replaces all power and data cables in the DGT e-board tournament set-up. The DGT e-boards connect with a cable from the serial port at the board to a small box that fits exactly under a DGT XL clock. The DGT Wireless box contains the batteries to power the board and the transmitter to send the data from the board and clock to a wireless receiver at your computer.
The DGT wireless system can handle hundreds of DGT e-board for a live broadcast of games over the internet. The system is fully compatible with the 5000+ DGT tournament boards that have been sold over the last decade.
The system will be available before the end of the year.
On the Euro Chess Tournament website you can find a live broadcast from 9 boards placed in all corners of the tournament hall at the University of Twente Sports Centre. The games will be played on Wednesday and Friday (two rounds from 9.00 CET (Paris time) until 19.00) and on Thursday and Saturday (one round from 9.00 until 13.30).
