DGT backing Elizabeth Cassidy Maina on her chess journey
Elizabeth Cassidy Maina is chasing her Grandmaster dream, and DGT is helping make it a reality.
Back to overview
At DGT, we believe in the power of chess to inspire, connect, and transform lives. When the team from Chess Meet Chess & Kids reached out, our CEO, Hans Pees, immediately recognized how naturally a partnership between our organizations aligned with this vision.
During the Chess 2 Change event on June 29, Hans had the opportunity to meet Elizabeth Cassidy Maina, a young chess player whose ambition and dream of becoming a Grandmaster left a lasting impression. Inspired by her determination, Hans saw a meaningful opportunity to support Cassidy on her journey to becoming the best chess player she can be.
Elizabeth Cassidy has already demonstrated exceptional promise in recent competitions. She made history at the Kenya National Youth & Cadet Chess Championship by winning the U14 Girls section with a perfect 8/8 score, and later finished second overall in the national playoffs, just half a point behind the leader.
She has since continued her impressive rise, most recently earning the Woman Candidate Master (WCM) title. Last December, Elizabeth Cassidy claimed gold at the African Youth Chess Championships, securing the U14 Girls title in Zimbabwe and further confirming her status as one of Africa’s most promising young players.
At DGT, we are proud to support Elizabeth Cassidy as she pursues her goals and inspires the next generation of chess players worldwide.
