Specifications

The official FIDE chess set was first used on DGT boards in 2013 during the World Championship Match in Chennai, India, where Magnus Carlsen defeated Viswanathan Anand to become the 16th World Chess Champion. Since then, the set has become closely associated with the modern era of professional chess, appearing in elite tournaments and official FIDE events around the world. Its presence on the world stage reflects both the precision and the prestige expected at the highest level of the game.

The design draws inspiration from the harmonious proportions of classical Greek architecture while remaining rooted in the timeless Staunton style. This thoughtful combination creates a chess set that feels both modern and traditional, blending elegance, balance, and clarity. Each piece is crafted to maintain the familiar identity of classical chess while offering refined proportions and a contemporary aesthetic suited for today’s professional play.
